The Spirit of David Livingstone
The main reason for me publishing these correspondences is that Mike Hard and his long time band “Thrall” have chosen to illegally co-opt the God Bullies Trademark in an effort exploit its legacy in hopes of fulfilling their delusional dreams of hitting it big. And the truly sick fact is that on numerous occasions they’ve held out that they are doing it in the name and spirit of our fallen comrade, David Livingstone. Honestly, he must be rolling over in his grave!

Secondly, Mike Hard and his band Thrall have recently recorded a CD and plan on fraudulently release it calling it the God Bullies. A little back story here. The fact of the matter is that in 2002 the actual God Bullies (Adam Berg drums, Mike Corso Bass, Mike Hard Singer, David Livingstone guitar) have had a 10 song CD with all the drum and bass tracks recorded. All that was needed was for Livingstone and Hard to do guitar and vocal tracks to complete the project. You will see numerous times mentioned about completing that album. While finishing that album was mentioned many times, completing the God Bullies album was evidently never a top priority for either Livingstone or Hard. They were actually both in a couple different bands together through the years "They Never Sleep" and the most recent being a band called “Pig Harvest”. Now you would have to ask yourself, why didn’t they ever call themselves the God Bullies over the years? I think you will see through the messages that David Livingstone had integrity and honor who knew you don’t shit on your band-mates.
The following are some messages between David Livingstone and myself (Mike Corso) about things involving our band the God Bullies. Of course when messaging you often have a couple conversations going at the same time so I have done my best to concentrate on God Bullies related issues. I have underlined some of the more prevalent points. Please understand that we had many conversations over the phone addressing these same issues.
I know that after reading his messages you will quickly see, in my good friend David Livingstone own words, that he was quite done and over with the God Bullies and the drama that surrounded the band.

Hey Mike, wanted to talk with you sometime reasonably soon about some GBs-related stuff....first off, have heard that Hazelmeyer's Amrep 25th anniversary thing in minneapolis tha twe are supposed to play at is on August 27...hope you're still down with that; if so, pencil it in...also, there is (again) discussion of doing the band again, & of course the only way this makes sense is if you are involved. I'm pretty iffy on the idea myself, but if an agreement can be hammered out that everybody (particularly you) would be happy with, I would be down with giving it a try. Hey David, I spoke to Adam about the 9/11 gig. It looks like it wasn't as big as some gigs. He tells me that Kodric has a Halloween gig as long as he can play??? I hope the God Bullies isn't turned into "So you think you can be a God Bullies" sideshow. With that said, I'm hoping you can build a fire under the GB's ass's up there, put the time in necessary to get an EP put together out of the material already recorded. NOTE from Mike Corso: while I lived in sunny Austin Texas, I was always going to come up to play shows such as the Theater Bizarre show as the God Bullies. As soon as we committed to it I soon saw the show was being moved to some small club and told them to go ahead and do the show without me.

Hey Mike. Yeah, the 9/11 thing was sort of pathetic. Fun enough to play but not at all worth the drive. The Halloween gig is the Theater Bizarre thing that Hard has emceed every couple of years and played at a couple of times - TNS (They Never Sleep) did it year before last and we got the shit slot at three am. It was worthless and I hated it. This time it's supposed to be at 10pm or so, so should be better. Don't know how Kodrik got the hookup but somehow he did; Hard really wants to do it as it is his favorite gig/event of the year, so he probably would have agreed to having accompanying clowns and ukuleles. Told hard I'd play it as a favor to him cuz it meant so much or whatever.As to Kodrik playing: Don't know why he wants to, or if he thinks that he's somehow going to angle his way in to the band or some shit, but that crap's not happening. If he wants to come up and jam on a couple songs fine, whatever, but that's it.Latest is that he probably can't do it anyway because of some movie thing he's working on, so it probably is academic at this point. Talked to Hard earlier today and he suggested, of his own volition, trying to get Davis to get another show or two either side of it so that it would make sense for you to fly in for it. My own sense is that that would be futile, cuz davis doesn't want to do shit without 3 mos. lead time, and besides, there is nowhere within easy driving distance that it would be worth playing then. Only good aspect would be MAYBE getting some recording done, but we'd have to get some shit together first. My agenda at this point is to go back thru the tracks we have, start finishing those off, and then see what else we'd need to do to get a product done. As far as what you can do....think the biggest thing is just get yr bass rig together & ready to go, & if you've got any ability to start getting footage for video (burning buildings? krazy kristians? venemous reptiles? anything...)that would be very cool....am going to start getting a GBs site together, & if you've got photos/data that should be included that would be great....once it's done if you want to point godbullies.com at it, that would be cool (obviously, keep ownership of the name yerself....for reasons we've already discussed). Hi Mike, Rehearsal sucked. After wanting to start at 5, Adam was 45 mins. late, hard was an hour late, and adam was a whimpery little bitch the entire time, in a hurry to race through everything and leave, not wanting to play songs that he "knew", even though he fucked them up when we did play them. People steered studiously clear of discussing anything to do with Bullies, other than vagaries of wanting to record. Hard was more into talking about TNS recording soon. Whatever. Tomorrow, when there is no Karen present, we're going to sort this shit out. AGAIN. I am fucking tired of the bullshit, particularly from Adam. Yeah, maybe I should have a stab at the GBs page....I thought of that a while ago, but thinking about it was as far as I got, but as I remember the description was rather in need of add'l detail.... The Theatre Bizarre had the potential to attract some attention and possible new fans but when I saw the venue was changed I was happy I stayed here in sunny Austin. I'm working on being able to come up by early next year and tour if the situation calls for it. I hope you can get the rest of the band to focus on completing an EP.I was tempted to see if we could get in on the SXSW. What would your thoughts be on that? …….. Horrible Fest was as its name implies. Don't think I told you, but Hard/Berg decided to surprise me by bringing along a 2nd guitarist - the guy they're working with in their Mike Hard best-of thing. Think they expected me to spaz out or something. I took it as a matter of course, played the show, came home and haven't really talked to them since, nor do I expect to. The show was an under attended joke in a crap club - felt bad for the promotor; he lost his ass. It's a damn shame things are the way they are....were there some measure of loyalty, civility, or basic human decency there, it might've been possible to make something out of a reprised God Bullies and/or TNS. But in the absence of any sense of mutual regard/respect, it becomes impossible. I have had quite enough, I think…

The only reason I'd wanna do this is to see my MPLS friends, particularly yourself, and see Corso. As I am here in the ME at present I don't really have the ability to call up Hard/Berg to discuss, nor for that matter do I want to much. My bottom line is that given my schedule is clear when I get back home I would play the show as a one-off provided the lineup consisted of me, hard, berg, and corso (and maybe Tommy or Johnny). Bottom line is that if Corso's not in, I'm not in- and I would presume that any "God Bullies" that didn't contain both of us would be a rather sorry sight indeed. I'll leave it to Mike C. to connect with Hard/Berg and flash the idea on 'em, and I will go from there. Here's the message I sent to Hard: Mike, 2 things: 1. Haze needs your mailing address to send you a travel reimbursement check. His email's xxxxxx@grumpys-bar.com. 2. I see that you've spoken with The Other Paper/Columbus RE my complaint to them that their article and/or the show's promoter had misrepresented your recent appearance as being a God Bullies reunion when in fact it hadn't been. It had been my assumption that persons other than yourself had been responsible for this, and hence it wasn't an issue between you and I, but rather a matter of sloppy journalism and/or misrepresentation on the part of the club. Corso had indicated to me that you told him that the people (presumably Paul) who booked the show had been responsible for effectively re-branding your current band as the God Bullies without your knowledge. Hello, I'm Mike Corso, Bass player in the God Bullies. Per your story "Will the real God Bullies please stand up?" Well I'm here and I'm standing up. While I got good chuckle out of your "Mixing '90s-style rock with political theater" article, referring to the band as Mike Hard and the reunited "GOD BULLIES" is the problem. I'm sure you can understand the indisputable amount of work & time it takes to build the "brand-name" and reputation of a band of the God Bullies notoriety. While the Mike Hard Band may play some God Bullies songs they also play many songs that have absolutely nothing at all to do with the God Bullies. Thus, they are NOT the God Bullies. For promoter Paul Bearer to make God Bullies the ONLY name on posters or his Facebook event page would certainly be deceiving to unsuspecting God Bullies fans and can only be considered fraudulent, and for that I am offended. I'm sure Mike Hard takes great pride in the Mike Hard Band and you'd think want it advertised as such. I was a bit taken back by Hard's "Whatever gets people in the door is my philosophy" as if to pass off a Mike Hard/God Bullies cover band as the actually God Bullies just to fill some seats is ok, well then, shame on you. I have no animosity towards Hard and only a gripe over the "Mixing '90s-style rock" article. While the REAL God Bullies did rock out both shows, Hard comments "...Columbus was better than the later shows with Livingstone and Corso..... neither of them are currently in a band or even practice their craft." The folks who put it on said the God Bullies were last year and this year the most requested band they want playing. I think we should look into doing the Club Soda reunion next year. I'd be willing to do it, I supposed, but I have doubts that A) Hard/Berg could stand to be in the same room long enough to even run through the songs; B ) that either would be willing to play for free, since proceeds go to some charity or other. It's funny how much nostalgia there is for that band. while I was keen to consider exploiting it at one point ("reunion album" or shows) it seems more and more that it's probably best, generally speaking, to let it be other peoples' nice memory... there was something special there once, but I doubt that much of it's there now. A one-off thing like the Club Soda reunion thing would probably be a good way to draw a line under it once and for all.

Conclusion from Mike Corso. So at the time of this last message it’s been 15 years since the God Bullies bass and drum tracks for the album was recorded….. Mike Hard never stepped up to the plate to do his part in completing what should have been a really great album. But now, with Thrall barely bringing in any audience, last year I was at a show in God Bullies hometown of Kalamazoo and maybe 20 people showed up. I did ask the members of Thrall (Scott Kodrik, Pat O'Harris, Cliff Carinci) why the hell they've allowed Mike Hard to relegate Thrall to a God Bullies cover band when they have good songs of their own. They all giggled but of course there was never any mention of Re-Branding Thrall into the God Bullies. I believe with unfortunate passing of our good friend David Livingstone to put the kibosh to this nonsense, Mike Hard, being the human pile of Shit that he has turned into, is now brave enough to make his move to Fuck over his remaining band-mates and leave a shit stain on God Bullies legacy. If you were friends with David Livingstone and go to one of these FAKE God Bullies shows, then you might as well take a drive to the cemetery where David is buried and Piss on his Grave because you were never his true friend.

I’ve already explained who was in the band and you and Johnny are NOWHERE to be found on any roster. Actually Hard was NOT always there! Hard quit the God Bullies and left us hanging with some gigs to do, we still did some shows in Detroit and Kazoo with front-man Blaine Townsend on vocals. We played our hometown bar, Club Soda with the Kazoo band the Sinatra's. We headlined the show, sold a ton of merch, made points for such a huge crowd and Blaine signed a bunch of autographs. Nobody much really cared who was singing. So, that’s a Big NO, he has NOT always been there. Mike Hard wrote lyrics. The rest of the band wrote the medley. Two completely different things when it comes to the world of Intellectual property law and having your ass sued in court.

There is No Honor Among Thieves
I'm sorry that I have to report on some drama revolving around the God Bullies legacy right now. It's the "Big Lie". We have a situation where Mike Hard wants to try and relive the Glory Days of the God Bullies, not by getting a hold of the original members but instead to somehow just convert the band “Thrall” magically into the God Bullies but that sounds like Black Magic to me. Now since all of the founding God Bullies members are still alive and doing well, you'd think that's where you'd start if you wanted to resurrect the defunct God Bullies band. But that's not what happening and that's where we have the problem. Mike Hard has been playing with the band "Thrall" and simply wants to co-opt the God Bullies good name & tarnish it’s legacy. It has put a bit of a schism between the actual band members. At this time, none of the original members have given their permission for Thrall to hijack the name God Bullies.
Now Mike Hard will try to sell it to you as a "melding" or "merging" of Thrall into the God Bullies. But I'm sorry guys but that's just not how it's done, not legally and certainly not morally. We are hoping Mike Hard comes to his senses before we have to involve the attorneys. Now while I can understand how there will be many true God Bullies fans that would be excited to see the real band together again. Anyone going to the "Pseudo Bullies" shows, while you may still even find it entertaining, please realize you would only be helping promote this giant fraud, doing a huge disservice to the people who have actually worked tirelessly over many years creating the God Bullies legacy that we know today. Let’s dig a little deeper on where we are. Here’s the most recent timeline and back story.
The actual God Bullies members (Mike Hard, Mike Corso, David Livingstone, Adam Berg) reunited in 2010 for several shows around the time of the 25 year AmRep reunion. We recorded the song "Wake Up" for the AmRep complication. "Wake Up" was a GB's song that had been sitting on an unfinished album recorded in 2002 that had all bass & drums tracks with some guitar and vocals. (I will be posting some of those songs soon) While David Livingstone and Mike Hard went on to play together in different bands, unfortunately neither of them had any interest in finishing that album. The God Bullies band was officially done and over with at that point in time, over 14 years ago. This should be the End of the a wonderful Rock & Roll Story. But not when a huge ego is involved. Attention all God Bullies fans: Be on the lookout for false Profits, Ego Maniacs and backstabbing lying friends. Once again Mike Hard and his weak-minded little minions in the band Thrall make a move to co-opt the God Bullies good name and mooch off its legacy. Thrall can’t just “merge” with the God Bullies, that’s not how it works guys. Especially when 4 of the original members are alive and want Nothing to do with this bastardization of their band.
Here’s Thrall selling you the Big Lie. WARNING! The following statement’s from Thrall are full of Delusions & Lies. From Scott Kodrik’s Facebook page:

Here’s the real deal. It’s Not about “asking the fans, unanimously shouting the same answer…” You guys are in Thrall. The God Bullies have Not been called "back into service on a mission of enlightenment." That is your delusion. You are NOT and never will be the "God Bullies". There will be NO "melding" of the bands. The best Thrall can be is what you've allowed Mike Hard to do all these years, turn Thrall into a "God Bullies" cover band or as many have called you the "Pseudo Bullies" So call it Thrall, They Never Sleep, Hand Over Head, The Brain Saw or the Mike Hard Show again but NEVER call yourselves the God Bullies.
DO NOT go into any recording studio as if you are the "God Bullies". Its called Intellectual Property Rights. Do NOT try to fraudulently pass off the music you recorded with David in the band "Pig Harvest" It has already been held out and promoted as "Pig Harvest" with absolutely No mention of God Bullies. There are four people responsible for ALL the melody lines and arrangements in GB's tunes, Tommy Shannon, David Livingstone, Mike Corso & Eric Polcyn. Mike Hard wrote the lyrics, nothing else. He's a great front-man, I'll give him that but Mike Hard never wrote a single note or any melodies. So now to think you can just insert a whole new band is first off, it’s illegal, secondly it’s extremely arrogant, asinine and totally disrespectful to those who ACTUALLY worked tirelessly over many years to build up the GB Brand.

That statement really sickens me. Earlier in promotions, Thrall invoked the spirit of our fallen comrade David Livingstone (it was on his birthday yet) as if to justify their co-opting of the God Bullies..... Sheesh, David B. Livingstone must be turning in his grave! You need to ask yourself, when Mike & David played in different bands over all those years, why didn't they ever call it the God Bullies??? I will tell you, David Livingstone did want to live off the past glory of the God Bullies. He told me so himself. That's Mike Hard and his enormous ego, hoping to bring back HIS glory days. So now with the unfortunate death of David Livingstone, Mike Hard does the dishonorable thing, makes his move to do what David never wanted any part of. Turn Thrall into the God Bullies. And I’ve been told they will try and pawn the recordings of the band “Pig Harvest” as God Bullies. This is truly despicable.
There was some deceit.
Scott Kodrik, had recently contacted me about doing some GB's shows and while I was very interested and said I’ll think about it and we should all talk (thinking Tommy, Adam & Hard) Before I could think about much of anything, Thrall was already doing God Bullies sets..... Then after reading Scott’s posts, asking some questions, having him quickly unfriend and block me so I can't communicate my dissatisfaction there, I can see he is NOT the honest man I thought he was and it appears the whole time it was all just another rouge for Thrall to hijack the God Bullies to feed Mike Hards huge ego so he can exploit the name grifting off its legacy.
Hey band members of Thrall, Grow some Fucking Balls already, tell Mike Hard you're better than just a God Bullies cover band.
Consider this your notice to "Cease and Desist" doing business as a band named the "God Bullies". Legal action to follow if necessary.
My Final Thoughts. The theft of something as unique as the Art I created is very personal to me. I know this may seem trivial to some but it means a heck of a lot for those of us who put the time & sweat into creating Art or Music just to have it stolen and exploited. Have you ever had your door kicked in with property stolen and your home left trashed. It leaves you feeling violated. Well I have had that happen to me and the feeling doesn't just go away. You clean up the mess the thieves left but every time you look at the empty space with your personal items once sat, it evokes the same sick feeling. With the theft of the God Bullies name, seeing them promoting the Big Lie online, bragging about a new album…. well that makes me feel much the same way, totally violated and sick to my stomach. I wasn't lucky enough to catch the thieves that broke in my home because they did it behind my back, in the cover of darkness of night when I was away. But to know the people I thought were my close friends who could be trusted that I once respected, choose to kick in my front door in while I’m screaming “Stop Steal My Art” yet go right on stealing from me, I'm sorry but that just has my blood boiling.
Fans of the God Bullies, please reach out to Mike Hard and Thrall and kindly ask them not to go down this path.
